Shmee (Wedding Celebrant / Interpreter of Vibes / Plant Lady)
Shmee always had a talent for collecting people and folding them into her universe. Having traveled to over 30 countries, she basically lives inside a giant transcontinental hug of fellow humans and that skill of being able to bring people together into an unexpected community is what makes her such a magical wedding celebrant.
When Shmee is not creating hilarious and heartfelt moments at the end of the aisle, she works as a Marriage and Family Therapist and hangs out with her beautiful family, which includes one husband, two daughters and a goldfish named Barry.
Something you may not know:
Shmee loves music festivals and even used to organize them. Whenever the opportunity arises, she dances and sings like no one is watching…hairbrush and all.
“Shmee was everything we could have asked for in a celebrant and more!! She brought her enthusiasm, infectious energy and sense of humor to the entire process, every step of the way. She started out with what I'll call the "research" portion, where she took time to chat with us both individually and as a couple, asking insightful and thoughtful questions about our relationship. Shmee's training and experience as a therapist really shone in these sessions - she is incredibly easy to talk to, and made the whole process feel like a lovely conversation (which it was!!). The care and thought she puts into these sessions can't be overstated— she really is able to dig into the little details without it ever feeling like she's digging, and these details became such an important part of the ceremony.
While her preparation for the ceremony was, in itself an accomplishment, the ceremony took the cake. The story she was able to weave together from our conversations, coupled with her undeniable stage presence is what we humbly think makes her the absolute best. She was able to take all the mish mash of stories we shared with her and build an incredible narrative for our wedding day, touching on those moments that truly make a couple who they are. In front of a crowd, Shmee is totally at ease, sharing the story of her couple, intertwined with good humor and poignant moments, all while placing the couple at the fore. Even with such a powerful presence, Shmee is sure to never make herself the center of attention, but rather, the guide by which the wedding guests can gain an even deeper affection and understanding for the couple standing before them. We cannot even begin to count the number of guests that came up to us to share how moved they were by the ceremony, and how impressed they were with Shmee. We are truly so lucky to have had her as our celebrant, and we can't wait for her to share her talents with other couples! “
